Known for many notable wins in his illustrious career, James McDonald continued to excel at the highest levels in horseracing and claimed the 2022 Longines World’s Best Jockey title – a milestone celebrated at the Longines Hong Kong International Races Gala Dinner on December 9. 2022 has been a remarkable year for James McDonald as he led the standings for most of the year, ultimately claiming the title with nine qualifying wins on five different horses. With a total of 142 points, McDonald bested Ryan Moore (96 points) and William Buick (78 points). In recognition of his exceptional achievement, the New Zealand-born, Australia-based jockey was presented with a Longines timepiece as well as a crystal vase by Cecilia Kwok, Vice President of Longines Hong Kong and Macau, and Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges, Chair of the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities (IFHA).
