Sölden (Austria) / St. Imier (Switzerland), 24 October 2014 – Today, Sölden was host to the start of the new Alpine skiing season, which will be characterised by youth. As the Partner and Official Timekeeper of the FIS, Longines will once again lend its support to up-and-coming sportsmen and women through the Longines Future Ski Champions race and the Longines Rising Ski Stars prize, awarded to the best young male and female skiers competing for the World Cup. At the launch of the new season the brand was also proud to announce the renewal of its long-term partnership with the FIS, as well as the name of its new Ambassador of Elegance, American alpine skier Mikaela Shiffrin, 2013 world champion and winner of two crystal globes in her specialist discipline: slalom.
