Mikaela was introduced to the world of alpine skiing at the age of 3 through her parents Eileen and Jeff who have been very supportive throughout her career. Since her very first race, aged just 15, at the World Cup 2011, she has simply just excelled. Multiple World Champion, overall World Cup winner and Olympic gold medalist, she is the first athlete to win 17 World Cup races during a season, reinforcing her status of one of that very small elite : today’s top female skiers. And while her specialist disciplines are the technical events, she is competing more and more frequently in speed races, claiming several World Cup wins in Downhill, Super-G and Combined.
Mikaela also won the Longines Rising Ski Stars prize for three consecutive years - the 2012/2013, 2013/2014 and 2014/2015 seasons. This prize, initiated by Longines, is awarded to the best female skier under the age of 21 and the best male skier under the age of 23 of the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup.
